Strength & Conditioning

Approximately 60% of American adults do not engage in any form of muscle-strengthening activity. Meaning a large majority of people do not lift weights regularly. Only around 30% of people meet the recommended guidelines for strength training exercises.

As a Strength & Conditioning Coach I have seen numerous amounts of people who are overweight/obese, don’t have much physical strength, have no noticeable muscle, and are not strong at the movements the body naturally does.

Let’s talk about the Strength Part?

5 reasons why people do not lift weights…

  1. “I don’t want to be big and bulky”

  2. “The weights are intimidating”

  3. “I don’t know how to lift weights and don’t want to get hurt”

  4. “I can’t afford a gym membership or a coach”

  5. “I don’t see change so ill stop”

5 Reasons why people should lift weights…

  1. Weight Training helps prolong your life

  2. Weight Training helps you with with weight loss

  3. Weight Training reduces your risk of injury

  4. Weight Training help with battling chronic diseases

  5. Weight Training is a great stress reducer

    Bonus…

  6. Weight Training makes strong what the body naturally does

  7. Weight Training just makes you feel better!

What about the Conditioning part?

The conditioning part of your physical health has to do with your cardiovascular system. Basically your blood flow and heart rate. I do want you to understand cardio conditions the heart and does not grow muscles.

Cardio is a great tool to use for overall health as it increases your VO2 max (Your breathing) and reduces your fatigue when performing physical task.

A common mistake people make is use cardio as the only tool to lose weight. This approach may work in the beginning but will fail at some point because the body gets use to the intensity and you have not changed your eating habits and/or have not introduce weight training. Cardio burns calories not body fat. (short term but not long term) So in turn will will gain the weight back or see no progress at all.

Solution

I understand weight training can be intimidating. Then you have to go to the gym and deal with guys like me who are loud and lift heavy weights.

The first thing you have to understand is you are worrying about all the wrong things. The gym is a place where people go to improve themselves and once you understand that you have moved on past your self-made obstacles.

As your coach, I understand you live a busy life and you don’t have time to focus on your health.

So, what I want you to do is close your eyes and visualize your success and how it will make you feel…

How would you feel if you started your Strength & Conditioning journey today and you didn’t wait for the perfect time to start. You show up to training session, you are getting stronger daily, you see muscle growth on your body, your clothes fit like they never have before, and you walk around with a confidence you never had before.
